The Choke Watch Begins, Sco Makes His Move

An Illinois upset and a huge week from Sco have turned the FEBU standings upside down.

Kellz Finally Looks Human

A wild Week 8 tightened the standings, Illinois shocked Oregon, and for the first time in a while the race for the top spot feels very much alive.

For weeks it felt like the FEBU standings were turning into the Kellz Invitational.

No matter what happened on Saturday, Kellz seemed to find a way to stay one step ahead of everyone else.

This week was different.

While most of the field stumbled their way through a difficult slate of games, Sco managed to put together the week’s best performance, finishing 5-1 and picking up an additional bonus point as the only player brave enough to pick Illinois over Oregon.

Whether that was elite football knowledge or blind luck is still under investigation.

Either way, the points count.

Meanwhile, Kellz came back down to earth with the rest of us, posting a 3-3 week.

As a result, what once looked like a comfortable lead has suddenly become a tight race once again.

Current Standings

🥇 Kellz - 69 Points

🥈 Sco - 68 Points

The gap now sits at just one point.

One point.

After spending weeks chasing the leader, Sco has not only closed the gap but moved himself into second place and within striking distance of the top spot.

The leader board suddenly has pressure.

And for the first time in a while, Kellz might actually have to start checking the standings.

🦆 Duck Notes

Merhinger Out

Following Saturday’s ugly offensive showing against Illinois, Dan finally made an official change.

Merhinger was fired on Sunday, ending a tenure that had become increasingly ruined Duck fan’s weekends.

Considering what we’ve watched on offense over the last several weeks, it’s hard to say the move was unexpected.

The questions now become:

Who is next? Does Oregon make additional staff changes after the season? Who could potentially step into the offensive coordinator role moving forward?

Those conversations are only getting louder.

The Offense Remains a Mystery

The most frustrating thing about Oregon’s offense right now is that nobody seems entirely sure what it wants to be.

Quarterback play has been consistently BAD.

The offensive line finally has a lineup they’re sticking to.

Explosive plays have been hard to find.

And despite all the changes, the offense still struggles to find an identity.

Looking Ahead

The good news for everybody chasing points is that Week 9 offers plenty of opportunities.

The bad news for everybody chasing points is that Week 9 offers plenty of opportunities.

There are nine Big Ten games on the slate this week, meaning there are plenty of points available and plenty of chances for disaster.

One bad week could knock somebody down the standings.

One great week could put somebody in first place.

For Kellz, the mission is simple:

Protect the lead.

For Sco, the mission is even simpler:

Finally catch him.

Final Thoughts

A few weeks ago the standings felt settled.

Now they don’t.

Sco’s huge week combined with Kellz’s rare stumble has turned this into a one-point race heading into one of the most important weeks of the season.

With nine conference games on the board, chaos feels inevitable.

The only question is whether Kellz can survive it.
